Strategic partnerships with renowned organizations for the conceptual and pedagogical further development of the ALEA SCHOOL through knowledge transfer, exchange of methods and joint development projects
The renowned Senckenberg Society for Nature Research is an official educational partner of the ALEA SCHOOL. Botany project weeks are part of the cooperation, during which students can take their first steps as natural scientists in the open field and in Senckenberg laboratories. There will also be lectures by Senckenberg scientists at the ALEA SCHOOL and a research project on climate change in the Orbwald.
“Every child loves the dinosaurs at the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt. These are experiences that awaken a spirit of discovery and a thirst for knowledge and can shape a child's entire life. At ALEA SCHOOL, we want to teach science in a way that inspires children for life. Senckenberg is the perfect partner for this.”
"The ALEA SCHOOL is an educational project designed for sustainability. I am delighted that Senckenberg will help shape the educational concept and support it as a partner. There are also exciting synergies for us - the Orbwald will provide us with important insights for the future of our forests."
- Prof. Dr. Klement Tockner - Director General of the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research
The Orbwald will become a new research area for the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung - as part of the research project "The future of our forests in a changing climate", observation and satellite data on weather extremes and the condition of the forest will be collected here in order to make native forests fit for the future. The project leader is Prof. Dr. Thomas Hickler, biogeographer and climate researcher at the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (SBiK-F) and Professor of Quantitative Biogeography at Goethe University Frankfurt. His research focuses on the consequences of climate change on forests. To this end, he develops complex vegetation and ecosystem models to analyze the effects of global warming on biodiversity and ecosystem services. Hickler is also involved in international committees such as the World Biodiversity Council (IPBES) and on the board of the German Climate Consortium.
In fall 2024, park lover and botany enthusiast Henning Strauss spoke about his dream of tof creating a palm garden in Ober. A palm courtyard is to be built in the center of the Campus Parkallee, and a palm auditorium is also planned—both modeled on the famous Palmengarten in Frankfurt. With the announcement of the program for the first ALEA SCHOOL Summer Camp, it is clear that ALEA is working to make this dream a reality. The first official cooperation between ALEA SCHOOL and the Palmengarten Frankfurt will take place during the Botany Week. There is already a close exchange in terms of architectural planning - the experts from the Frankfurt original are advising ALEA on the design of the final Parkallee campus.
"My dream of a palm garden is coming true. The plans are becoming concrete, the palm tree partnership has been established. ALEA has a green signature - which will also be reflected in the school. And who knows: maybe one day the ALEA SCHOOL will even have an orangery and a butterfly house...",
- Henning Strauss

In principle, anyone can apply for a scholarship. The award committee will take various criteria into account when selecting the scholarship holders: First and foremost, the economic eligibility of an applicant family. This is based on the average household income (approx. €70,000) in the Main-Kinzig district and the applicant confirms that they have a lower household income. Voluntary commitment, special achievements or a particularly convincing application are also taken into account.
When applying for a scholarship, applicants must provide basic information, a letter of motivation and a letter of recommendation from a (class) teacher. After submission, the awarding committee will review the application and contact the applicants regarding the next steps.
At the present moment, two scholarship programs have already been confirmed.
Further scholarship programs are currently being developed.
There will be both full and partial scholarships. Depending on the type of scholarship, either all or part of the school fees will be covered by the scholarship. Both scholarship models cover tuition fees up to the 10th grade to the extent indicated.
